Suzie Calvert

Dance Teacher

Suzie began her dancing career from the early age of 3, with The Audrey Spencer School of Dance, in Huddersfield, where she was taught the whole range of dances, covering many genres. Whilst at Audrey Spencer’s, Suzie participated in numerous competitions both local and around the breath of the country.

Following on from her extensive training with Audrey Spencer, she undertook a further education course at Huddersfield Technical College, which involved her in choreographing for a number of shows and productions.

Suzie’s experience in the performing arts has been extensive and includes membership of Kirklees Youth Performing Arts Company, which opened up a plethora of performing opportunities across a number of venues, in drama, singing and dance.

As a member of Woodhouse Operatic society, for many years, Suzie had a supporting role and was, therefore, an active member of the Society, undertaking many acting roles whilst, at the same time, developing and enhancing her already acquired skills.

Suzie was also part of a street dance group, known as ‘Fiasko Soldiers,’ very popular amongst young people from all cultures and backgrounds and which developed a wide following in the area. In addition, she has been a stalwart participator in both the Huddersfield and Deighton carnivals, all her life.

In 2012, Suzie opened up her own dance school known as Rhythmix, where the focus is on Street Dance, very popular among our young people. In addition, she has, since 2012 also, become a registered Zumba instructor, offering classes around the Huddersfield area.
Suzie brings much experience, knowledge and understanding to her role as dance teacher at Reach Performing Arts, teaching all the genres of dance. She has used her skills in mounting a number of productions, fundraisers and dance shows at the local theatre and venues around Huddersfield town. Both parents and young people appreciate her qualities along with all the additionalities she brings.
