Over many years of running projects within the community, I realised that there was an enormous amount of untapped and wasted talent among the youngsters and, it is for this reason I decided to set up Reach Performing Arts.

Here at Reach, we aim to bring out the best in every child, through the wonderful world of singing dancing and acting, which goes some way in building confidence and self-esteem for many youngsters. We offer children and young people, from diverse backgrounds and cultures, the opportunity to take part in the performing arts, at an affordable cost, opening up their inspiration to unlock creativity, develop new skills, build on those they already have and build confidence and self esteem. They also have the opportunity to perform in Reach’s productions as well as participation in local events and Lawrence Batley Theatre shows, such as pantomimes, Jump and Shout and Strictly Pennine Dance Festivals.

The primary focus is on dance, drama, singing and musical theatre.

Dance – covers many styles, including jazz, contemporary, lyrical and musical theatre, designed to develop strength, poise, proficiency and technical ability.

Drama – includes theatre and television techniques, script work, mime, improvisation and physical theatre, which is not only fun but also preparation for attending casting opportunities.

Singing – which aims to develop young voices and vocal quality and techniques.

And finally, we aspire to provide a solid grounding in the performing arts for many children and young people and to observe their growth and development throughout this process.
